A pole barn uses columns that are not engineered causing little security to high winds and snow levels. In addition, a pole barn applies their wood purlins horizontally, not vertically, causing a wavy roof system. This causes the roof to stretch the metal causing screws or nails to pull out. With wood columns 6’ to 8’ O.C. there is no chance to enter in the side of the building with a 10’ or 12’ door or wider. In addition, the pole/wood barn trusses are 4’, 6’, or 8’ O.C. which make a great place for birds or owls to perch themselves on.
